FAQ
To calculate square footage, you need to find the square footage of the room or area you are measuring first. This is done by measuring the length by width and multiplying these numbers to give you your starting point. With flooring (and wall coverings) you also need to calculate for waste. Rooms are rarely square, and materials will be cut to various lengths. Once you have determined your room area, add approximately 10% for waste. This gives you the minimum amount of square footage you need to purchase.
Notes - if a room has bump outs or closets, ensure you are taking the largest measurement of the space.
One of the best options is a steam cleaner, with no harsh chemicals, on a low steam setting. Higher steam settings can be used on tile, but we recommend using low steam settings for vinyl, and particularly hardwood.
